Reel Library vs. Reel Analytics

What is the difference between the reels I see in the Reel Library and the ones in Reel Analytics?

This is a good question and there is a significant difference.

Reel Library - Think of these reels as "Templates" or "Shortcuts". These are reels that you have saved as a personal Favorite or as a Company Reel. Any reel that you create can be saved as a Favorite in the Reel Library. This is useful for saving a reel "Template" of something that you will regularly send out to clients. Instead of having to re-create the reel each time you want to send it out, you can save a master copy of it. Now when you want to send that reel to a client, you simply go to Reels, Create New Reel. Mouse over the Actions button and select Load From Reel Library.

Reel Analytics - The reels that you see in Reel Analytics are actual LIVE reels that you have sent out to your clients for viewing. Since these are LIVE reels and not templates, you need to be aware of the difference in the Edit function here. Any changes made in Edit mode are updated immediately and are permanent. You should always try to avoid using the Edit function here. Edit should NEVER be used to send out a copy of the reel to another client. Doing so will OVERWRITE the record and the original person you sent it to will not see what you intended them to see if you made changes to the reel. The only time you should use the Edit function here is if you forgot to add a spot to the reel when you sent it out. You can use edit to go back into the reel and add the extra spot. There is no need to save or resend the reel, simply add the spot and Simian automatically saves and updates the record for you.

If you want to make a COPY of a reel you sent to someone and that reel was not saved as a favorite, you can make a COPY of it from Reel Analytics. Find the reel you sent out before, then click on the Actions button to the right and select Copy Reel. This will load a copy of the reel into the Reel Creator and you can safely send this to another client. Since you made a COPY of the reel, you will also get another record of this reel in your Reel Analytics for the new person you sent it to.
