Importing Contacts
Topic: Knowledge Base / Contact Manager
First, identify the export option in your current email client. Most address books will allow you to export into a vCard format. This is the recommended option. If the vCard option is not available, use the option to export to a CSV file.
After you have exported your contacts, go to your Simian dashboard and click on “Contacts” in the top menu bar. (Please note: You must have login permission to access the Contacts section of your Simian account. If Contacts does not show up in the gray menu bar, contact your company’s Simian administrator.)
On the “Contacts” page, you must first set up an Email Group to import your contacts into. Click “Add Group” for the pop-up window, then enter a Group Name. You can also make this group Private or Public.
Setting a group as Private means that only you and the administrators of your account can send messages to this group.
Setting a group as Public means that this group list is available to anyone using Simian in your company.
Click the “Add Group” button to finish creating your new contact group. Screen shots below.

Next, on the Contacts page, click on “Import Contacts” for a new pop up window. Screen shot below.

Select vCard or CSV file depending on what type of file you are importing. If importing a CSV file, please note the required formatting.
After selecting your file type, click on the “Select A Group” drop down menu and select the group you just created. Then click “Choose File” to browse your directory for the vCard or CSV file that you imported and saved earlier. Then click “Import”.
